Copy right, Chelsea Cordova, 2006, All Rights Reserved

Chelsea Cordova resides in Coeur d’ Alene with her husband and two young daughters. The beautiful variety of scenery in North Idaho is a

constant source of inspiration and motivation to paint “en plein air”.

Chelsea Cordova painted her first painting at the age of 5 when her mother purchased a paint-by-number kit for her. Since then Chelsea has been experimenting with one form of art or another. Chelsea spent a few years focusing on painting murals until she started her family. These days she mostly paints oil landscapes on canvas instead of walls.

Formally Chelsea has studied watercolor and design but it has been the many workshops, private lessons in oil painting, and the pursuit of

outdoor painting that have really helped Chelsea to develop her style of landscapes, which results in work with a loose, painterly quality. This “impressionistic” style is what she would like to master, perhaps

eventually painting more abstractly.

For Chelsea being an artist is a progression in which one chooses to approach one’s work with the practice of examination, experimentation, and creation.

“At this stage I am trying to define my visual “voice” and determine how to communicate through technique and subject my view of the world. Do my paintings need to simply represent what I see or will they imply something more expressive of my  experience in the world”
